Dr. Dan Pate, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Pate graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He began working at West Rome Animal Clinic in 1990 and, eventually, became owner. Dr. Pate maintained ownership for 30 years until he sold the clinic at the end of 2020. Dr. Pate remained the hospital’s Medical Director through April of 2023 at which time his successor, Dr. Amber Coffman, took over the role. He remains passionate about veterinary care, specifically in the areas of dermatology, soft tissue surgery, and orthopedic surgery. Surgery is Dr. Pate’s happy place! He enjoys working with all Doodles, Labrador Retrievers, and Golden Retrievers. Dr. Pate has two Doodles himself, Linus and Schroeder.

Dr. Pate has been voted “Best Veterinarian” numerous times by the Rome community over the years – as recently as 2022!

In his spare time, Dr. Pate enjoys spending quality time with his family and grandchildren, reading, and golfing. He also remains a member of the Rome Exchange Club, an elder of the First Presbyterian Church, and Chairman of the Board for the Northwest Georgia Veterinary Emergency Center.
